Wet Weather Indoor Fun!

The wet weather last week sure didn’t deter us from having ample amounts of fun with and alongside our friends! Our kaiako created our very own spiderweb we had to navigate our way through using a range of our gross motor skills we often demonstrate in our outdoor playground

Check out our littlest members at Ako enjoying the sunshine this week! We were all so excited to see the sun after a very wet week and absolutely made the most of the beautiful weather! Our new one year olds have all reached their walking milestone very recently and were thrilled to enjoy our outdoor environment in a new way!

Little Scientists at Ako Rolleston

Our Rua tamariki have been thrilled with the addition to our curriculum, welcoming a new science programme run by the Little Scientists who have travelled to Christchurch for the duration of Term 3! Our excited and intrigued little minds participate in a series of dynamic and fun experiments, exploring the likes of fossils, forensics, chemistry and the galaxy. We are always super excited for Thursdays and can’t wait for the upcoming lessons!

Our nursery tamariki thrive on sensory experiences and love getting messy in the process. Water play, Paint, mirrors and other tactile resources provide rich learning for tamariki learning about the world around them.

Local Schools

We love having strong relationships with our local schools, and especially when they come to visit us here at Ako. Mrs Fee from Rolleston Primary is visiting on this occasion and meeting tamariki who will be transition into the school early in the new year.

Christmas Preperations

We just love Christmas at Ako Rolleston, and our tamariki especially love getting festive with all the different experiences provided in the lead up to Christmas. Our Christmas party is especially awesome because Santa arrives with ice creams – YUM!

Roadworks at Ako

With new water pipes needing to installed down John Street, came diggers, big trucks and road workers. All very interesting things for our tamariki both in the Nursery and Tamariki Nui Room. What a great opportunity to see this work in action, from our viewing window in the fence, and for our older tamariki, to get a front row view by sitting out in our carpark for a while.
