Our Story

Playground Upgrade

When Andrew and Rachael took over the Centre in December 2019, the playground did not comply with National Preschool Play Ground Standards – meaning it was not safe. So a big project has been to have this structure removed and replaced with a more natural environment of grass and moveable objects. After a huge effort of diggers and human man power the playground is transforming – and will continue to do so over a few stages.

You can see below the transformation taking place.

Stage 1: Removal of unsafe structures

Stage 2: Uplifting the unsafe mats and replacing with grass.

Stage 3: Providing moveable objects for children to play and learn on.

Learning and Programme

Rachael and her team are committed to providing a learning programme that is child lead and continually evolving. Following the National Curriculum Te Whāriki for Early Childhood Education, the team has introduced an environment of rich learning experiences and routines with warm and trusting relationships between teachers and children.  We have:

  • Developed a Strategic Plan to show direction and progression of Centre
  • Introduced or refined Policies and Procedures – Click here to see our Health and Safety for Children Policy
  • Implemented Learning Profile Books and Learning Stories for children and enhanced the use of technology
  • Invited members of our community to further enhance learning opportunities for children.
  • and much much more!
